Immediate Advocacy Help
If you are involved in a potential cut to the music program in your district (a budget cut, a reduction in a position, etc.),
here are the steps to follow:
1) Contact your District Chair (look at the “District Websites” for contact information for your district’s
chair).
2) Contact Jess Newton, MMEA’s Advocacy Chair, by email jdstone00@alumni.plymouth.edu or phone
(207-251-0993) as soon as possible.
3) Find out important dates regarding the situation (school board meetings, hearings, etc.), and attend every
single one of them!
4) Get parents involved!!! Parents are some of your biggest allies when it comes to issues such as this.
Arrange to have a parent or two speak at any applicable school board meetings.
