Student Honor Plaque Order Form

TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS OF FESTIVAL STUDENTS:

As I mention in the information link for the students, it really is our pleasure to be preparing for the Maine Music Educators Association All State Music Festival. Dozens of volunteers have been working for months to see that this is one of the most rewarding events of your son's/daughter's High School years. This, YOUR web page link, is devoted to the items we feel you need to be aware of and familiar with in preparation for the Festival.

PLEASE ALSO READ AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE STUDENT RULES AND EXPECTATIONS LINK!

If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail me at:sproulx@scarborough.k12.me.us

All of us in MMEA are so proud of this great event, and we look forward to serving these wonderful students for a few days!

Suzanne Proulx
 Festival Chairperson

 GENERAL OVERVIEW...

We are supervising nearly 440 students in conjunction with this event. We have it "down to a science" after 57 years of experience, and we have 300 on site teacher volunteer hours in place and an on staff nurse to see that supervision and safety are thorough and uncompromising. But we remain in a position where we MUST enforce every regulation to the maximum degree. If a student is...

 a) observed in an unpermitted area - even on campus
 b) breaking any of the specified student regulations
 c) involved in a scenario that leaves us in a compromising position

... then you, their parents, will be contacted immediately to drive to Gorham and remove them from the premises. Please know that we must follow a "one strike rule" for the benefit - and safety - of all concerned.  This is the least you should expect from us, and we are prepared to follow through on this.

 STUDENT "MOVEMENT" LIMITATIONS AT ALL-STATE...

Students are under the jurisdiction of MMEA while involved with the Festival from the moment they arrive in Gorham to the very conclusion of their concert on Saturday. Individual teachers, parents, relatives and/or friends are NOT permitted to transport, make decisions for, nor impose expectations on any student at any time unless otherwise designated and expressly permitted by MMEA. For liability reasons alone this is a reasonable expectation. It also alleviates any disparity in student expectations from school district to school district.

 EMERGENCIES...

Contact with your son/daughter will be minimal at best due to the busy three day schedule. But in the case of emergencies, BEGINNING ON THURSDAY MAY 19 through SATURDAY MAY 21: PLEASE CALL ME AT: (207) 318-6637

At that time I will immediately contact the appropriate Manager or Chaperone and facilitate whatever step must be taken next. If you are instructed to leave a message, please know I will return your call very shortly.

In the event of an emergency where WE must contact you, we will do so via the information you supplied on the Festival Contract and Medical Form this last Winter. If that information has changed since then, please contact me via e-mail as soon as possible so our records are accurate.

Students need to bring:
1. all bedding, including sheets, warm blanket, and pillow
2. towel and facecloths
3. Band and Orch students: a good wire stand WITH YOUR NAME ON IT

Any further questions, please contact your school music teacher!
