PCA Great Performances is offering the Romeo and Juliet Guided Tour for school groups on Thursday, April 12, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
at Merrill Auditorium in Portland -
From the deadly fight between Mercutio and Tybalt to the famed balcony scene and the doomed lovers’ deaths, Aquila Theatre
guides students through the most exciting scenes in Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. Hosted by one of the company’s
skilled actors, the tour introduces the main characters and provides a narrative link between key scenes. Aquila Theatre Guided
Tours are engaging educational performances that take students through significant scenes, performed in full costume, often
with the full set and props used for the actual performance.
Innovative and dynamic, the Aquila Theatre Company has gained a well earned international reputation as one of the foremost
producers of touring theater. Since its inception in 1991, the company has won both critical and academic acclaim for its
work, changing the perceptions of classical drama by freeing the spirit of the original text and allowing the widest possible
audience to enjoy these great plays as live, visceral, and above all, entertaining theater. Guided tours are one hour in length,
including a Q&A session, and geared towards students in grades nine and up. A Student Study Guide will be available for download.
