•ONLINE SURVEY by the DOE - A letter has gone to "teachers of the arts" who identified themselves as
such in the 2005-06 MEDMS form. Each teacher has been invited to go online and fill out a short survey. The survey will
help determine needs for Maine arts teachers as well as give me an email and snail mail address list. If a teacher is new
in a school system this year or didn’t list one of the arts as something they teach they will not receive a letter.
Please encourage teachers of the arts to go online whether they receive a letter or not. The link for this is:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=729042740651 Each person who fills out the survey will have a chance at winning a prize! So, don’t delay, go online today. If
I have not met you yet, I look forward to meeting you.
Thank you so much for taking the time. ~Argy Nestor, DOE VPA Consultant

• PROPOSED REVISED MAINE LEARNING RESULTS NOW AVAILABE! - I am delighted to let you know that the proposed revised
Maine Learning Results document has been posted online and the revised Maine Department of Education Regulation 131 has been
filed with the Secretary of State. You can access the documents, crosswalks connecting the 1997 MLR to the 2007 MLR, Informational
Letter #27 and the revised Guiding Principles on the following link. http://www.maine.gov/education/lres/review/revised_mlr_standards.htm
You will notice that there are two documents where there was previously one. The Revised Maine Department of Education Regulation
131 is a subset of the Revised Maine Learning Results and identifies only those content standards for which we are collecting
on demand statewide data. This should significantly help to provide clarity around federal reporting. The Maine Learning
Results document continues to define the required learning for Maine’s children and contains all eight content areas
and provides much greater specificity regarding the depth and breadth of instruction than the Revised Maine Department of
Education 131 rule.
