• Call for Conference Workshop Proposals -
The Maine Department of Education, Maine Alliance for Arts Education, and Maine Arts Commission with Maine Music Educators
Association, Maine Art Education Association, Dance Education in Maine Schools, Maine Drama Council and VSA arts of Maine
present:
At the Creative Center: The Arts in Maine Schools
October 5 and 6, 2007 at The Samoset Resort - Rockport, Maine
Deadline: July 1, 2007
Maine’s state arts and education organizations are collaborating to present a fall conference celebrating the arts as
the creative center in Maine schools, pk -16. Arts educators, teaching artists, and representatives from arts organizations
are invited to submit proposals for workshop sessions. Hands-on workshops are encouraged when appropriate.
Workshop topics may include but are not limited to:
* Creativity, innovative instruction, curriculum and assessment in the arts, visual arts, music, theater, dance, and writing
* Interdisciplinary connections between the arts and creative thinking in other content areas
* Linking arts creativity in school and the arts beyond school walls
* Issues/panel discussions: eg. graduation requirements, advocacy, Maine Learning Results, redistricting
* Arts education and the creative economy
* The Arts and student wellness/ school social climate
* The Arts and technology

• ALL STATE CONFERENCE REGISTRATION - Begins at 8:00 in Corthell Hall.
• All STATE FESTIVAL REGISTRATION - Festival registration this year will be done over two hours:
***Registration for schools that auditioned at the southern site will run from 8:00 to 9:00 ONLY
*** Registration for schools that auditioned at the central site will run from 9:00 to 10:00, and earlier if you want
***Registration for schools that auditioned at the northern site will run from 9:00 to 10:00, and earlier if you want.
