University of Maine Music Education major Whitney Thurston and USM Music Education major Monica Tate are the Collegiate MENC members selected to represent the Maine Collegiate MENC chapters as 2009 CMENC Eastern Divsion Emerging Leaders in music education.
David Neves, Ed.D., President, MENC Eastern Division, states, "Selection for this honor was based on past and current work as a leader in your own CMENC chapter, as well as potential for future leadership at the local, state, division and national levels of MENC."Whitney and Monica are among nineteen students recognized in this manner from the MENC Eastern Division, which includes Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, selected schools in Europe, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. All representatives will be officially recognized at the MENC Eastern Division CMENC Leadership Breakfast-Workshop at the upcoming MENC Eastern Division conference, at 8-10 am on Saturday, 3/14. In addition to breakfast, the students will view presentations from MENC Eastern Division and National leaders, share information from their CMENC chapters and set goals for the next two years.
